Saints do their bit for Comic Relief
4:10pm Friday 15th March 2013 in Sport
SAINTS players visited schools across the town this week to kick start Comic Relief 2013.
The senior squad called in at primary schools to take part in fundraising challenges with staff and pupils.
Cooking, Zumba Dancing, Rugby League, Skipping and Running were just some of the ways money was raised for Red Nose Day.
Jon Wilkin went head-to-head with Lance Hohaia in a ‘Bake Off' at The District Primary School in Newton-Le-Willows.
Jon said: "It was a great event. We helped the children in the nursery bake their first hot cross buns and then the challenge started in front of the whole school.
"I personally thought I'd done enough to beat Lance with my Red Nose cake, but the judges said otherwise!"
Meanwhile, Saints legend Paul Sculthorpe and player Josh Perry joined youngsters from Garswood Primary in St Helens for the special performance. Everyone at the school donned fancy dress to perform the comic dance.
Comic Relief supports a number of Rugby League projects and has invested around £500,000 in 37 projects since 2012 including.
