Brook make the case for defence

EVEN though Brook scored the only points of the game it was their defence that won them the day against table topping Golborne with a great show of resolute tenacity.

Brook opened up the Golborne defence with 20 minutes on the clock when their ever alert full back Lee Johnson swooped on a Ian Marsh kick to score at the corner flag.

Brook were then put under extreme pressure, but held their line in tact for four point half time lead.

Brook had a perfect start to the second half when a 50 metre up field move resulted in centre Mark Leonard putting Andy Rawsthorne over with the final pass.

Welsby added the goal.

For the next 20 minutes Golborne bombarded the Brook line but could not crack the tenacious tackling.

Having withstood the onslought Brook clinched the game when the Brown brothers Lee and Jimmy combined for the latter to go in under the posts,Welsby converted.

The Unite Union man of the match went to Jamie McCabe with AndyRawsthorne, Lee Johnson, Craig Dubios, Mike Fields all proving their worth.
