BROOK’s young side travelled to the Salford City Reds Stadium Complex to take on the league leaders and came away having praise heaped on them for their efforts.

The homesters opened with tries from Simon Davis and Darren Evans.

With half time approaching an inch perfect kick on the last tackle by stand off Jordan Welsby was grounded by centre Arron Hewett and Welsby goaled for 10-6 half time score line.

Hornets started the second half as they did the first as centre Davis crossed for his second unconverted try.

Brook responded well with some probing runs from forwards Josh Donoghue and Jamie McCabe and were rewarded for their efforts when centre Darren Forshaw outpaced the Hornets cover to score in the corner and Welsby landed the touchline conversion.

With the score line balanced at 14-12 in the dying minutes it was a lost ball on Brook’s line that clinched the game for the Hornets as they picked up to score a converted try.

Brook’s M.O.M went to Darren Forshaw with Josh Donoghue, Jamie McCabe and Jordan Welsby all playing well.
