IN a year in which sport in the UK has hit an all-time high there have been Olympic sized celebrations at Blackbrook Royals under 14s.

In the first ever season of summer rugby at an amateur level the team have reigned victorious throughout 2012.

To kick the year off the team started the campaign for the coveted National Cup seeing them travel to Bradford, Whitehaven and Leeds beating the best that the country has to offer to secure a spot in the final.

This took place in Blackpool where they fought a hard battle against Hull team, Skirlaugh Bulls, to be crowned National champions, winning the game 26-14.

The next trophy to grace the Blackbrook cabinets was the North West Counties cup where a well contested derby game against Clock Face Miners saw the under 14s once again become the winners beating their close rivals 22-14.

Then to top off a great season the team have just secured the NWC Premier league title making this a treble winning season for the lads and even more exceptional - all of this has been achieved without the team losing a game.

They even managed to squeeze in a week long tour of France at Easter playing two Catalan Dragon scholarships sides.

Needless to say a lot of the lads have earned scholarships at a number of Super League clubs.

We are sure to be seeing more of them in the future. Congratulations goes to the lads and coaches on a great achievement, enjoy a well earned rest!
