Thatto Heath Crusaders 38 Leigh Miners Rangers 6

A SCINTILLATING first half display saw Heath pull into an unassailable lead at the break.

Danny Davies set the tone with a fabulous individual try when he burst through down the left on his own 30 metre line. On reaching the full back he dummied inside to Shaun Quinn before rounding the full back to score under the sticks.

Aggressive defence forced the error on the Miners 10 metre line and from the scrum Heath probed left before Anthony Bate was stopped short on the right. From the play the ball Kieron Maddocks dummied left then barged his way over in the corner.

Another Miners knock-on saw Jack Jones pick up and outpace the cover for Heath’s third try of the game.

Heath then scored twice in the final five minutes of the half. Chris Frodsham dummied his way through the line for the try then Matty Holding pushed off his opposite number and beat the cover to the corner.

Miners improved marginally after the break but the deadlock was broken on three quarter time by Frodsham as he dummied before stepping off his right foot inside the full back for the score.

Shortly after Miners intercepted for their only score of the game but Heath scored the final try courtesy of Adam Walsh re-gathering Frodsham’s grubber to the corner.

This was a good all round team display giving little opportunity to the visitors, but time and time again any pressure exerted by Miners was dealt with.
