Leyland Warriors 22 Haresfinch 24
FINCH won a nail-biter to complete the double over Leyland Warriors in North West Men’s League Division Two.
It also coincided with the return of Ste McNamee after more than 18 months out of the game with injury.
Leyland opened the scoring after five minutes with a converted try.
It took the rest of the first half for Finch to draw level when centre Graham Sams sent full back Shaun Hudson on a run to score wide out, with Kev Parylo adding a superb conversion.
After the break Leyland regained the lead with a converted try.
But the introduction of McNamee changed the game for Finch.
Almost immediately after coming on man of the match McNamee raced through with a dazzling run to score, with Parylo adding the conversion to draw level.
Finch took the lead when Byrom Whalley made a short break and Chris Simm finished it off with a try and Parylo added the two points.
Leyland responded with two tries and one conversion but Finch got the points to win when Sams sent Shaun Hudson on a 60-metre run to score a brilliant try and Parylo added the match-winning conversion.
