Very sad day for hard working people like Suzanne Knight who, regardless of political affiliations, has proved to be a fantastic representative for our town.

The vicious cycle of politics repeats itself. I agree with all of the comments about the 70s. People have very short memories. The Unions went on strike, whilst Germany, Japan and China said 'thank you for your business, we'll manufacture that for you'. I'm lucky I suppose, I am well read, educated, and keep up to date and care deeply about the politics and management of my Country. The propoganda that was distributed by the Labour party during their campaign was blatent lies, although in fairness, not everyone would have seen that.

If there's one thing for sure, they'll see it now. I needed a kick up the arse to move from the area, and this result was it. If Labour get in at the General, I'm emigrating as well, because then, this Country truly will soon be a Third World economy, with its Conservative vote diluted by further expansive immigration.

Let's not forget, when we talk about being fair to all parts of society when making decisions for the benefit of the future of this Country... This Country was bankrupted by the Labour party, which allowed the top echelon of our society to become richer than they ever had been FACT, and caused the poor to suffer the most. Do people think that the recession is just a UK issue? It's not, its every European Country to some degree, many worse than ours. Internationally, our management of the debt crisis caused by Labour is heralded to be by far the best. It isn't easy for ANYONE. Blame Labour, they caused it, and they will do it all over again, they ALWAYS do it. Socialism does not work.

What would happen for instance, if hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless due to foreclosures? Our credit rating, our ability to borrow money at low interest rates, is key to the Bank of England keeping interest rates at an all time low. If our credit ratings are lost, then interest rates will rise. As many people are on the same breadline, no worse off, to the last Government's last year in power, interest rate rises would be CATASTROPHIC. People wouldn't be able to afford their homes, in a housing market that ROCKETED in price under Labour's incredibly bad management. Hundreds of thousands could be left HOMELESS. Labour's answer is simply or borrow more or, what is their answer again for this week? Or will it change by next week? What will they write on the next pamphlet? Oh, who cares eh?

Oh and please, stop using 'Granny' tax. Whether its right or wrong is completely and very rightly debatable. The terminology is insulting to anyone with an education. Firstly, it doesn't just affect Women, which is what the term suggests, and secondly, they are just elderly, what if they don't have grandchildren?

It sounds stupid, but when you think about it, its a typical statement borne from a generation of 12 years worth of idiocy.

I'd urge people to start educating themselves and then they will surely realise that a vote for Labour is a vote against their local area, and a vote against Britain.

I was raised on a Council Estate, and I'm a fully paid up member of the Conservative Party. I'm a working/educated person that's passionate about my local area and Country, so it's naturally the right choice for me.
Personally I was delighted when Suzanne Knight lost.Everyone needs bringing down a peg or ten at times..."

Can we trust Labour with fiscal policy for the town?

Is there no penalty when politicians publish dubious information to tempt or frighten sections of the electorate into voting for them?

I cite the recent ‘Labour literature’ which states that a family earning £20,000 per annum loses £450 per annum because of the 2.5 per cent increase in VAT.

Simple mental arithmetic shows that they would have to spend £18,450 on 20 per cent VAT items, leaving only £1,550, which would just cover electric and gas, with nothing left to spend on food, rates, etc.

Can we really trust people with such arithmetical ability to run a tight fiscal policy for our town?
