NORTHERN Rail introduced a new timetable this month but I fail to see any signs of progress.
Before this change, St Helens Junction would have three trains going into Liverpool per hour, including one express train.
Now we’re down to just two an hour and the express train, which has served the station for the best part of twenty years to my knowledge, no longer stops there.
The nearest substitute I can find is an express which stops at Lea Green instead. It wouldn’t be so bad, but the two trains we now have to rely on are either never on time or cancelled altogether because of ‘a member of train staff being unavailable’.
Northern Rail made a great deal of advising customers to become familiar with the new timetable before it was launched.
Perhaps they should have taken the time to do it themselves then we wouldn’t have so many cancellations and delays?
Northern Rail? More like Northern Fail. Time to nationalise the railways I think.
