I AM writing to thank all the generous people of St Helens and Haydock who donated toothbrushes for the children in a primary school in Uganda.

A total of 132 toothbrushes have so far been received, and all have now been sent on to the Uphill School Trustees based in Scotland.

The toothbrushes will be taken to Uganda in September 2018. I would also like to thank all the former pupils of Central Secondary School in St Helens for all their help and support.

Also many thanks to Wilko’s store in town, and Marita’s Flowers in Haresfinch who did a sterling job acting as collection points for donated toothbrushes.

And a thank you to reporter Kelsey Maxwell for the article in the St Helens Star and Knowsley Central School for their donation.

The children in Uphill Primary School in Uganda will love the toothbrushes. They are already receiving a free education funded by Uphill Trust Registered Charity, and without this help these children would get no schooling as their parents are too poor to pay for the education.

A big thank you for the generosity of the Star readers, it really is appreciated. You all helped towards putting a smile on many young faces.
