OVER the last six weeks or so there has been an almost permanent presence of traffic lights at the top of Bleak Hill Road at the new Henderson Homes site causing traffic disruption towards Windle Island.

These lights have been sited here by several utility providers. BT were the first to dig up the footpath and also dug across Bleak Hill Road bringing their own barriers and traffic control lights.

Each company, BT, water and now gas suppliers have all excavated the same footpath whilst digging their own channels across Bleak Hill Road.

The water supplier finished work on Sunday evening and the gas supplier began on the day of writing (Wednesday, April 10) leaving a whole 48 hours without disruption. This work is still ongoing.

How difficult is it to minimise disruption and each of these suppliers to work in conjunction with each other. If they use common sense they could all work on the site concurrently?

As a resident I have only received one letter advising of the work being undertaken and how long this would last for from Future Utility Solutions on behalf of British Gas.
