I FELT I just had to say a very big thank you to the kind gentleman who stopped and helped an injured young swan near Lidl car park at Blackbrook on February 28.
I was just passing to do some shopping when the drama unfolded.
The gentleman told me he was on his way to work and while stopped at the traffic lights, saw the poor swan fly into a high lamppost and crash to the ground.
It appeared to have broken its wing.
He rang round for help and stayed with it until two council rangers, who also deserve a huge thank you, came to the rescue.
They told me they would take the swan to a vet for treatment and, hopefully, when better and probably minus a wing, this beautiful creature would then go on to live at a local sanctuary.
Let’s hope so.
