The Mersey Gateway toll is an absolute disgrace.

Sadly it is very unfair to those in the surrounding areas.

It is as if you are being punished because of where you live and work.

I live just outside the Halton borough but work in Runcorn and have done for some years.

Now I’m paying a travel to work tax but for those who live in Halton pay a £10 registration fee and travel across at no extra cost.

Living in St Helens, Liverpool and some areas of Warrington and working in Runcorn can cost more than £900 a year.

But living in Runcorn and working in St Helens, Liverpool and Warrington is £10 a year.

What is even worse is the Jubilee Bridge will also have a toll when the work has finished and that bridge was free to travel over from the day it was built...
