IS it time to stop littering the town by scrapping recycling?

Another weekly collection; it’s dry, mild and not windy so no excuses can be made for the weather.

I’ve just had to go outside and pick up two cans, one tin and two aluminium foils that I put in my pink recycling bag and ended up littering the road after the lorry had driven away.

It is not the first time this has happened.

Why should we go to the trouble of recycling when the staff responsible for collecting do not appear to be doing their jobs?

Every week the evidence of bottles, boxes, tins and cans is there to be viewed – if we actively threw rubbish on the streets then we could be fined.

Who is going to take the so called recycling staff to account?

As much as I am personally committed to all forms of active recycling I have regretfully come to the conclusion that in this town it is simply a waste of time.

Perhaps, scrapping this “service” would not only save the council money but result in our streets actually being cleaner and tidier?
