OVER the years it has been well documented that the highways department has no constructive ideas for solving the serious problem that exists at the junction of Bleak Hill Rd and Rainford Road.
They don’t even appear to have a plan “A” or a plan “ B” for this dangerous junction for when it eventually gets gridlocked due to the closing of the exit from Tesco on to the East Lancs Road.
Ignoring the problem is no solution and it certainly won’t go away by sweeping it under the carpet.
As Highways has wrestled with this problem without success for many years maybe the time has come for the motorist who regularly use this junction to have their say.
These motorists should be encouraged to submit their ideas to the Highways with a sizeable award given to the person who comes up with the solution.
