SO metro mayor Steve Rotheram sees an exciting future for St Helens does he?

Following the Star website’s recent article describing yet more cuts to services, the future doesn’t look quite so exciting for the residents.

Whilst there are plenty of council workers on high salaries, the council propose cutting bin collections to once every four weeks and the ranger service could be abolished entirely.

Whilst the council pay £100,000 to external consultants (and this is only what we know in relation to the “advice” relating to the local plan for 2016), the council are making further cuts to services for the disabled and the elderly.

Whilst the councillors cost us around £600,000 a year in allowances and expenses, the council will be cutting back our library services and selling off our municipal golf course.

I assume that our council tax bills will continue to rise too.

And at the same time as all this is happening, the council could take debt on to finance the £300million “vision” for the town centre.
