WITH regard to the West Point site, it is good to see the new businesses opening but come on, the development has happened at a snail’s pace.

The site was empty for 15 years and the surrounding area is a complete and utter eyesore.

The site was sold at one point, a development promised including a hotel which never materialised and then a few more years went by.

The issue is not the lack of faith in the town centre but the lack of faith in the council’s economic development team and councillors who were responsible for the time it has taken to move things along.

As already mentioned, if the businesses on site have a chance, something needs to be done concerning the parking restrictions.
Anyone going there for a meal and then shopping, or a meal and bowling, is going to get a parking fine.

Suppose a family want to go to the new restaurant for a meal and then the cinema or vice versa? Are they seriously going to move the car?

Because if they don’t it will be an expensive outing.

Could the council have not had the foresight to have developed a leisure park like the Hive in Widnes with everything on one site with free all-day parking - or is that just too innovative for them?
