I HAVE been a resident in this area for two years and I am becoming increasingly discouraged and concerned with the amount of litter, fly tipping acts and general up keep of this area.

Most areas especially on the Ravenhead Road leading to Stafford Road (along Ravenhead Glassworks) are becoming more and more littered every day.

This causes health and safety concerns for the residents and the public of this area when travelling through to the town centre.

With there being a very long queue most lunch times, evenings and banks holidays at the recycling centre, some of the general public find it OK to fly tip their unwanted items on Ravenhead Road.

The queue for the recycling centre is getting alarmingly dangerous as most people are queuing on either side of the road.

These events make it difficult for drivers who don’t want to use the skip to get through safe and sound.

The public are being patient as the length of the queues highlight this.
Due to health and safety reasons (especially when the skips are being emptied), the recycling team prohibit any of the general public from entering.

This creates long queues outside the centre, and gives the public more of a reason to fly tip.

So...I’ve had a think about some solutions and questioned them below.
Can the skip emptying/changing times be suited to less busier times?

Can some signage be put in place for the public to know when these skip changes are taking place?

Can we have staff helping to form an orderly queue on one side of the road? Is there anyone out there reading this (i.e. members of the public, a council representative etc) that can make a difference or help with this?
Communication and education is key.

An improved system needs to be put in place so that it can reduce some of the fly tipping and prevent any vehicle accidents from happening.

Why wait for something negative to happen before making a positive change?
