I READ with interest two letters in the Star (issue January 28). One is headed 'Ghost town concerns' and the second 'Parking staff not being fair'. Both in my view are linked.

The writer of the first letter, Mark, tries to deflect attention from the leaders of St Helens Council to the Chamber of Commerce. In my view we should look very closely at the decisions taken by the councillors who represent us.

For instance – are they business-minded – probably not in my view. Are they running the town in an efficient manner – probably not in my view.

If we look at parking in the town it does appear to me that the traffic wardens are anti business as well.

Why can't all of our car parks be free? Why do we need traffic wardens?

Surely, if someone obstructs the Highway it is a case for Merseyside Police.

So, in my view, we need free parking and no hassle from traffic wardens. Then we may find that the town rises like a phoenix from potential ashes.

I should add I have been professionally involved in job creation in the past.
