MY daughter, her partner newborn baby and 11-year-old were travelling through Rainhill when the had to stop for a speeding Porsche.

The Porsche smashed into the parked car in front of them and into another on the other side of the road.

As it sped off, it knocked a child off his bike who had heard the commotion and was coming to see if they were ok.

My daughter phoned the police, to be told no the police wont be coming out to them because they didn't get the registration number of the car.

So my daughter's partner and a neighbour fled and found the abandoned car locked with no front and his side hanging off.

Now the police could attend but we were told they have to wait 24 hours to see if he reports the accident!

The point of my letter is that the police are being stopped from attending the scene of the crime, like with burglaries, which puts innocent people at risk.

We are constantly reminded to never take the law into our own hands but it looks to me that we are to find our own criminals and hold them until the police can then attend an incident, which may well be a more serious issue by then.

All this is because of cut backs and money, but yet our rates never go down. The Government are giving criminals are a free for all playground.
