I WAS very close to the incident in the North Stand when the Saints supporter suffered a heart attack (Star front page, July 30). The gentleman in question was practically being revived in my row, we all moved down to make sure there was enough room for the heroic stewards and first aiders.

The cardiologist who came to the rescue sits on my row. Nobody knew what he did for a living even if we'd sat nearby since we moved to Langtree Park, but he calmly got to his feet and got involved. He accompanied the gentleman to the ambulance, came back 10 minutes later and watched the last fifteen minutes of the game like nothing had ever happened.

Really, truly extraordinary. Everyone at Saints should be very proud of themselves and this man who was simply sat watching a rugby match, as together, despite the NHS apparently switching off at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon, they have unquestionably saved a life.
