I READ with interest the article regarding the battle to save the Boar's Head pub.

St Helens Council's Planning Committee seems not to care about old characterful buildings or the feelings of the people who live around them and appreciate them.

In Moss Bank we did our best to prevent the ancient Black Horse pub from being demolished. Our efforts were all in vain as the developer started work removing slates from the roof and taking out the windows even before permission had been given.

So a landmark building was lost in August 2013 and now, two years later, what have we been left with? Barriers guarding a pile of rubble and mounds of earth.

The developers, after beginning the demolition with great gusto, have apparently run out of enthusiasm to build the approved houses on the site.

Good luck to the Boar's Head.
