I HAVE just read the letter in last week's Star regarding the removal of benches from the Hardshaw Shopping precinct and I have to say the writer showed a lack of empathy and support to the aged and disabled citizens of St Helens.
It would seem she was more interested in the knocking down of disused pubs. Her comments on disabled and older people fetching walking frames and get help with shopping really is quite appalling.
I assume the writer at this stage in her life is not in need of walking aids or seeking help shopping but as one gets older things can change.
