MY husband and I attended the two-minute silence at Victoria Square on Friday May 8, which was shambolic.

There were no seats for disabled veterans and no shelter from the inclement weather. The microphone did not work, which meant the speakers were inaudible above the noise of traffic. Part way through the proceedings the mayoral party thought it was over and attempted to leave the square.

Where was the pomp and circumstance of this very special, and to some very poignant, day?
