I RECENTLY read that the people of Haydock will be able to to access greater broadband speeds in the not too distant future. Whilst I am pleased for them I remain puzzled that after three years of asking both BT and the local Focus Team in Eccleston nothing has been done in our neighbourhood.
Houses are being constructed all around us at a fair rate of knots. We already have a nursing home only 100 metres away, a Sainsbury's convenience store and a fire station less than half a mile away and in the other direction a sheltered housing unit. What is it that makes our neighbourhood not viable?
I have a high regard for all members of the Focus Team but I am totally baffled as to why some areas of Eccleston already have access to Fibre Optic Broadband when we don’t.
Having waited since 2012 I don’t see myself as particularly impatient. I wish the residents of Haydock all the best and for us to have some clear, uncomplicated positive answers for ourselves and our immediate neighbours.
