I HOPE the person who stole a very expensive piece of equipment from my car on Sunday, February 1 is  pleased.

After seeing many bad road accidents and helping to provide assistance to injured parties over the years I’ve spent a great deal of money to equip my car with the gear to be able to deal with accidents.

I never drive past any incident without stopping to see if I can be of help. I carry first aid kits, burns kits, biohazard kits, fire extinguishers and a good deal of other equipment such as cones and warning lamps.

My car is also fitted with several hundred pounds worth of emergency lighting. In fact I had been to assist at a well publicised incident on the afternoon of January 31.

On February 2 I awoke to find out that someone had stolen a light bar from the top of my car, which cost me nearly £200.

I cannot afford to replace it, apparently it was stolen by someone as a “fashion accessory” for their truck.

Well I hope they are pleased with their night’s work.

Several years ago I had to give up my job due to ill health, but helping people in time of need gave me a sense of worth.

Well I shall still continue to help people but will feel a bit less safe without an important piece of equipment that has been stolen from my car.
