AS A direct result of a Star article about our charity, Africa’s Children in Education (ACE) just before Christmas, we were delighted to receive an anonymous donation for £3,000 to fund a new kitchen at Arise Primary School, the school which the charity is building in a very poor area near Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.

This was the best Christmas present ever! In particular, the children, many of whom are malnourished, will benefit so much.

We cannot express sufficiently our gratitude to the retired couple from Billinge who have given so generously to make this possible. The money has already been transferred to the school and materials are being delivered ready for building to start.

We would also like to thank Simon Mulligan for the publicity he has given our charity in the Star in recent months, including support for our ongoing Breakfast Appeal.

In our wildest dreams, we never thought that we would be able to begin the new school year in Tanzania with the imminent prospect of a kitchen and the provision of breakfast to the children.

This will make such a difference to the children’s chances of making the most of the opportunity of education that they now have. Thank you so much, too, to the local schools and all of our supporters who have made this possible by giving to our Breakfast Appeal.
