MAY I, through your newspaper, give my sincere thanks to the members of the following line dancing clubs: St Mary's Billinge, Moss Bank Community Centre, Mansion House, St Helens, Ravenhead Social Club and Thatto Heath Labour Club.
Since 2010, they have supported the 'Adopt a British Squaddie' which has allowed me to send countless parcels to troops serving in Afghanistan.
We have many letters and cards from the recipients expressing their gratitude for the contents of these parcels while they were so far from home and loved ones.
The last parcels have now been despatched as the scheme ended.
In conjunction with the parcels, we have also raised funds for Headley Court Military Hospital.
Donations totalling £1,250 have already been sent and there is a further £310 to add. We are hoping to increase this amount and, to this end, will be holding a raffle at Moss Bank Club in November.
Headley Court Military has treated many of our soldiers including our very own local hero, Andy Reid, who calls Headley Court a "fantastic place".
Thank you all who have supported these fundraising activities, your generosity has been heartwarming. Kind regards.
Mrs M Sherrington (Ashton-in-Makerfield)
