THE whole of the Middle East could be on the verge on imploding because George Bush and Tony Blair decided to start a war based on innuendo and downright deceit which caused the deaths of 3,600 US and 179 British military personnel.

We now know that Saddam Hussain had nothing to do with 9/11 and Al Qaeda did not and could not operate in Saddam’s Iraq. In fact it was only his regime which held this country together as rightly or wrongly as this and other countries in this region have feudal systems which have always threw up dictators, many of whom we have supported, as we have in other regions of the world if it suited our needs.

The Arab Spring had our leaders heading overseas to fawn over the new dawn, not realising that by imposing our democracy, which was an alien conception to them, we were and have opened Pandora’s box and managed to spread hard line Islam across the whole Middle East and beyond.

We now have a situation in which Britain and America have lost all credibility and seem to be making policy on the hoof. The seismic plates over the old world order are out of control and the foreign office and department of state are rudderless as they try to regain control over what could become numerous rogue states, who are already spreading their poisonous philosophy to every continent of the world.

If the situation continues to escalate our financial institutions will take fright and the stock markets around the world will reflect this and the fragile recovery will stall as panic sets in because that whole region controls our oil supplies. Let us just hope our governments are up to the task and can regain control of events or the world we now know will change forever.
