I COULDN’T agree more with Tony Kearns’ letter last week.

As a HGV 1 driver for a local company, I have to travel on the two worst roundabouts in Europe for complete disregard of indicating, regularly using the six-lane Milan ring road, as well as other busy junctions in Germany, France and Holland.

But I have to say in St Helens the Asda roundabout and the bottom of North Road and Duke Street are a HGV drivers’ nightmare.

When I’m driving a fully loaded 44-tonne lorry pulling out of North Road you would be surprised how many cars come on from King Street in the left hand lane when wanting to turn on to College Street.

It leaves me having to second guess if they are going to correctly turn up North Road or carry on going round.

This also happens when I come around that roundabout heading for College Street when cars will come round and be in my blind spot (on my inside) as I manoeuvre around the roundabout.

They are totally oblivious to the danger they are putting themselves into.

Maybe a quick half hour on the driving test to give car drivers an appreciation of giving an articulated lorry a little bit of respect on the road would be worthwhile.
