SURELY the most important question raised by St Helens Council’s involvement in a private venture with the Langtree Group to redevelop the Parkside site is how a council that continues to campaign about the effect of Government cuts can find the money to fund this?
If money is as tight as they continually say it is, then their only priority should be to safeguard local services and existing council jobs, and not to speculate with taxpayers’ money.
This may not result in photo opportunities in the local paper, but would be a more appropriate use of public money.
