Town centre winning back shoppers

PLENTY of people I know have chosen to save money on fares and petrol and shop in St Helens this Christmas.

And nearly all of them are saying they have been really pleased with the range of items on sale from good local stores like Tyrers and ODs.

What has been a revelation for many of them is the great service to be found in many of our town shops.

One young shopper told me she preferred New Look in St Helens to the one in Manchester, saying it was easier to find what she wanted and the staff were brilliant. Beat that Trafford Centre!

At least I can say thanks for the laugh!

You must be b..... joking!!

St Helens needs urgent investment in its Town Centre. Look at every town around us, Widnes, Warrington, Wigan, Liverpool... what have they got in common? New shopping centres

So St Heleners have to take themselves out of town and spend money outside of our local economy to spend money somewhere else!

Sorry, not buying this one. Definitely an odd result as the amount of people in town contradict this completely.

I think this letter is fake It has the ring of untruth to it. Tyrers was good this Christmas though. The rest of the town centre is right out of shameless - which is apt because that's just what the inept council are.

Why don't they listen and integrate into the shopping areas where people want to shop, the high st has we knew it has gone accept it, you'll come out the other side in a better position.
