A ST HELENS man is wanted in connection with a scam in which a 75-year-old was duped out of £1,300.
Rogue traders have been targeting older people, promising to carry out work, which is never completed.
Two incidents have been reported to the authorities in Knowsley, the first on Monday, September 1, when two men called at the home of the pensioner in Huyton.
After checking the gutters, the men said that they would replace them and paint the outside wall for £1,300.
The men drove the 75-year-old to a bank in Huyton, where he withdrew the money. They told him that they would have to call at Manchester and Leeds before starting work, but never returned.
The first man had a St Helens accent, was slim and around 5ft 10in tall. The other spoke with a Manchester accent and was described as having a large build and around 5ft 10in tall.
The second incident happened the next day on September 2 in Cronton, when a woman in her 70s was targeted. The men left with £450 after a relative became concerned over the level of workmanship.
