CLUMSY crooks used a disc cutter to slice their way through a shop roof, but failed in their bid to escape with cash.
In a bungled Mission Impossible-style raid, the crooks clambered onto the roof of the Co-op late store on Chain Lane before trying to carve entry into the shop.
They then attempted to smash open a stand-alone ATM machine at the rear of the store but only succeeded in activating an alarm.
It is understood the raiders then made a hasty escape, but left the cutting device on the roof of the shop.
