CANCER survivors devise many wonderful ways of saying thank you to the dedicated care teams who see them through their darkest days.

But there won’t be many more harmonious ways of repaying that debt of gratitude than the melody-packed concert which was given by Lynn Jones for our local hospice.

The 60-year-old, from Rainhill, who recovered from ovarian cancer, organised a fundraiser for Willowbrook Hospice last year, and has just staged another thanksgiving event.

Lynn, who also had treatment at Whiston Hospital and the Lilac Centre, again chose Toll Bar United Reformed Church in Freckleton Road, as the venue.

She called the concert Forget Me Not as a mark of remembrance for the nursing care she received.

The show was compered by husband Bob, with the musical extravaganza again attracting a full house and raising £1,131.

Lynn’s dulcet-toned numbers in a well-balanced programme included If I Loved You from Carousel, True Love from High Society, Over The Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and O My Beloved Father.

She also performed with Gwyn Jones Franz Lehar’s Merry Widow Waltz, Margaret Brooks’ Wings of Sleep and Aughton Male Voice Choir How Great Thou Art.

Aughton Male Voice Choir and the Village Singers also enjoyed tuneful supporting roles.

The concert drew to a close with a rousing rendition of When The Saints Go Marching In, and a bumper cheque was presented to Willowbrook Hospice representative Diane Humphreys.
