Councillor aims to restore pride in historic Newton and Earlestown
11:00am Saturday 20th October 2012 in News
A NEW community group has been formed to restore pride in a historic part of the borough, which many feel has been neglected.
Although he may be the local Labour councillor, Seve Gomez-Aspron said he was creating the group more in his capacity as a resident rather than a politician.
Named the Newton and Earlestown Community Group, he said they want people to be proud of their historic home.
He said: “One of our first projects is to meet on Sunday, November 4, at Earlestown Town Hall to clean the war memorial and surrounding area from weeds and dirt before the Armistice Day parade.
“The group has met a few times, but is new and could do with help to make the locals and those further afield about their aims.”
