Officers closed M58 after body was discovered

POLICE have confirmed officers attended the M58 this morning (Friday, 19 October) following the discovery of the body of man.

Following the report, that was received just after 10am, patrols attended and the man, thought to be in his 40s, was declared dead at the scene.

The scene was sealed off for forensic examination and a closure was put in place on the eastbound carriageway of the M58 from Switch Island whilst the body was removed.

The motorway has now been reopened.

 A police statement read: "The man is yet to be formally identified and a post mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death.

"At this time the death is not being treated as suspicous and the matter is to be referred to the coroner."

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area and has seen or heard anything that might be relevant to their investigation to call 101.
