Girls blow their own trumpet with success at championships

THE rich tradition of brass music in the town was maintained as two bands landed prizes in the national championships.

Trinity Girls Brass Band, of Garswood, are pictured celebrating after taking third spot in the third section of the contest at Cheltenham Racecourse after playing 'Three Ancient Customs' by Richard Huw Cole.

Meanwhile, Parr Band, who performed 'A British Isles Suite' by Jonathan Bates, finished second in the fourth section.

Rainford, competing in the first section, were placed 15th following their performance of 'VIVAT!' by Tom Davoren.
