Police: Missing baby found safe and well

A BABY boy has been found safe and well inside a car that was stolen in Liverpool this afternoon.

Police made an urgent region-wide appeal for information after the 18-month-old tot was asleep in a child seat in the back of the Vauxhall Vectra that was stolen from outside a property in West Derby.

A thief jumped in the car on Whinmoor Road, at about 12.15pm as the baby’s father was outside delivering a package.

However, less than an hour later the car was recovered, with the baby boy still inside, near to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

A statement read: “Merseyside Police can confirm that the vehicle has now been recovered near to Alder Hey Hospital and the 18-month year old boy is safe and well.

“The driver of the vehicle had left the vehicle prior to the arrival of the police.

“A search of the area is underway and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
