Curious cat rescued by firefighters from car engine

IT was a close call for one curious cat which had to be rescued by firefighters after it became stuck in the engine compartment of a car.

They were called at around 1.50pm to Manorwood Drive in Whiston last Saturday (October 13) and used airbags to raise the vehicle, so that they could get easier access to the cat from under the car.

Watch Manager Ian Clarke from Whiston Fire Station explained: “The cat had climbed into a very small space and was difficult to get to, but we managed to free it and it was unharmed.

“We advise people to contact the RSPCA first in these situations, who can then request our help if required.”

Firefighters left the scene just after 2.30pm.
