Green deal for companies
11:00am Sunday 14th October 2012 in News
COMPANIES have been discovering how their business could benefit at a Green Deal Marketplace hosted by St Helens Chamber.
The Green Deal is a flagship initiative launched by the Government to promote the uptake of energy saving-products by helping people pay for improvements to domestic and commercial premises through savings on their energy bills.
The Government has come under criticism for its “soft launch” of the initiative, which could provide a major boost to the renewable energy industry and help consumers and businesses to make significant savings on their energy costs.
Tracy Mawson, Director of Business Services at St Helens Chamber, said: “The aim of the Green Deal Marketplace was to bring together businesses interested in learning more about the Green Deal, or who want to be involved.”
The event attracted a whole range of firms, including those with products and services delivering resource efficiency and carbon reduction, installers who want to be accredited to deliver Green Deal standards, installation training companies and businesses simply interested in increasing their own energy efficiency.
Tracy continued: “We hope that The Green Deal will create market opportunities and help businesses to become more energy efficient but it is still in its early days and there are several issues to be considered.
“We hope that our event will have answered some questions but our Business Advocates are also on hand to advise businesses on the opportunities available and how they can get involved.
“We are also in the process of establishing an energy efficiency industry forum that will bring together businesses interested in getting more involved in becoming accredited Green Deal suppliers and give them the opportunity to work together to win more business for St Helens firms.”
