Steve Prescott: 'I'm back up and running'

STEVE Prescott has been released from Whiston Hospital four days after being taken ill following the completion of his latest gruelling endurance challenge.

The cancer battler and inspirational fundraiser revealed he is on the mend to his 10,000 Twitter followers this morning.

The 38-year-old wrote: “I’ve been totally amazed by the support & messages. Thank u 2 so many people. Good new I am on my way home, a bit sore but back up & running.”

After the punishing 48 hour race to the Grand Final, which saw the 38-year-old swim, run, cycle and canoe his way from Hull to Manchester, Steve was left drained and with severe stomach pains on Sunday.

Following a series of tests doctors have established that, due to the rigours of the challenge, he lost a substantial amount of natural fuels and fluids, including electrolytes, meaning his bowel was unable to function.

However, with Steve’s condition having improved he is expected to take his place at Friday’s inaugural Solar King Pride of St Helens Awards, which his charitable foundation has organised.

Great news, I'm glad that Steve can get back home to his family and hope that he is well enough to attend this Friday's POSH awards.

It is often said, but Steve is truly inspirational to people that are ill or 100% healthy.
