Knauf in line for energy award

A SPECIAL energy project has won St Helens company Knauf Insulation a place in the final of the inaugural Build It Awards 2012.

The company has made it to the shortlist for the Best Innovation in Insulation Award category, after blowing judges away with Knauf’s Manchester Low Energy Terraced House project.

The project saw the local company demonstrate how low value properties can be made energy efficient through affordable insulation instalments. Knauf used a variety of its innovative insulation products throughout the house, including wall, roof and floor insulation.

The property was monitored and seen to benefit from a 62 per cent energy reduction, a carbon reduction of 57 per cent and an increase from a band ‘F’ to a band ‘C’ in the Energy Performance Certificate rating.

Lydia Sharples, head of Knauf Insulation communications in Northern Europe, said: “We’re delighted to have made it to the final and be recognised for our innovative range of insulation solutions.”
