Gemma set to 'pack bags' for Rape Crisis charity

GEMMA Pilling has been raising money for UK Charity Rape Crisis England and Wales, with a little help from local businesses.

Mum-of-one, Gemma, started fundraising this year after receiving a letter of recognition from the charity. The 25-year old has raised cash through events such as a raffle.

Gemma, from Newton-le-Willows, told the Star: “The local community has been amazing supporting us.”

The single mum won support from businesses, who donated prizes such as vouchers, gift cards and products, for use in the raffle.

Gemma continued: “We also met Inspector Steve Lowe of Newton Police Station who kindly offered his time to draw the raffle.

“The charity work isn’t going to stop at the raffle.

“We’ve set a date to bag pack at Tesco in Newton-le-Willows and I’m currently organising a charity Zumba night.” The bag pack is on Saturday, October 13 .
