Left for dead...dog rescued after being dumped at water pumping station

AN abandoned dog has been rescued after it was found wasting away inside a fenced off water pumping station.

Council officers believe the dog had been thrown over the fence into the secure compound surrounding the station in Merton Bank, St Helens.

Dog welfare teams and police had to use bolt cutters to free the trapped animal.

The emaciated, female cross-breed, which was spotted by a member of the public, spent the night at a local vet’s where she was given antibiotics to help recover from her ordeal.

However St Helens Council's Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service say she is responding to treatment and getting stronger every day.

Principal Environmental Health Officer Diane Foreman said: “She was wet, shivering and around half the weight she should be when we found her, but now she’s managing to keep solid food down.

“We’ll be looking after her for the next few days and keeping a close eye on her before hopefully finding her a new home.”

Spot on Sankey. As Robbob states, there is never a need for animal cruelty. Shame on the despicable scum who did this and may they be rewarded in kind.
Hope the lovely dog finds a safe and loving home she deserves.

Dog Licences at a hundred pounds a dog.Sick to death of seeing our streets filled with people walking the things around, trying to ignore the steaming piles that they leave behind for the rest of us to step over. Since the clean up after your dog rule came in it's amazing how many people now feel the need to walk their dog late at night.

Very, very few. Strange isn't it. Leave your car in a payed for parking spot for 5 minutes more than you have paid for and there's a 99% chance you'll get a hefty fine. Seems some laws are more important that others.

Am i surprised ? No....not after the tirade of abuse people got trying to stop a girl giving away a 6week old pup yesterday on a Facebook free ads page...the reason? Because her baby was teething...its only a dog one young girl replied.....

Good point about hw many get done. The maximum if 6 months in prison I would like to see much more vigour on the part of the authorities on this sort of crime As for the girl on facebook I would have reported that to the RSPCA.

S&W- dog licenses would only be bought by those who actually follow the law anyway! Like car insurance. It's not a guaranteed 'fix all'.

Every dog to wear a collar with a licence disc on it. No collar / licence disc then confiscate animal. Owner to carry photo ID for each dog to stop any one licence and 3 dogs style fiddling with collar swopping. Dog owners have had enough chances but like every thing else in life, a few bad apples have spoilt it for every one else so now the law needs changing.
