Plans to replace petrol pumps with larger stores

PLANS to axe two petrol service stations and build larger convenience stores have been submitted to St Helens Council.

Caldo Forecourts is proposing redeveloping the service stations and Spar stores at Haresfinch View and West End Road, Haydock.

They want to build enlarged convenience stores instead of having petrol pumps.

The current sites are open 24 hours a day but the planning application submitted to St Helens Council states the new stores would be open from 6.30am to 11pm.

Once the likes of Tesco, Asda, Morrisons have forced the closure of independent petrol stations around the area with their phoney price wars, watch the price of their fuel rocket.
