RAINHILL High pupil Jerome Sinclair has become the youngest player to play for Liverpool Football Club.
Sinclair came off the bench for the Reds in their clash against West Bromwich Albion in the Capital One cup last week.
His appearance came just six days after the year 11 student’s 16th birthday, toppling the record set by Jack Robinson, who was eight months older at the time of his appearance for the first team.
Originally from Birmingham, Jerome relocated in 2011 to join Liverpool FC.
In doing so, the youngster became a pupil at Rainhill High, which proudly partners the club by hosting the LFC Academy Education Centre.
The centre officially opened last September following an ongoing relationship between Rainhill High and LFC.
Head of education and welfare at LFC Academy, Phil Roscoe, said at the opening: “Over the past 18 months we have been impressed with the high level of teaching and pastoral care provided to our boys at Rainhill.”
Raheem Sterling, who has broke through to the Liverpool first team this season, is a former Rainhill pupil.
