St Trinian’s fundraiser Anne bids farewell

AS she hangs up her school uniform for the last time Anne Ferguson can look back on 15 years of fundraising with a huge sense of pride.

The architect of the annual St Trinian’s walk from Wigan to St Helens has decided to call it a day after raising more than £100,000 for children with leukaemia.

Anne, from Parr, and her last troupe of walkers, dressed as characters from the St Trinian’s films, raised just over £1,000 from bucket collections on the day.

Anne expects that figure to rise when more sponsorship comes in.

A carer by trade, Anne said: “On the day we had about 35 to 40 people, and the weather was glorious.

“I want to thank a lot of people, because they were the reason I kept doing it.”

She praised the walkers, who turned out with her every year, Tri Print in St Helens, who created her posters, Elite Telecoms, who donated £250, the Running Horses, which made the buffet for the walkers and coach companies Ogden’s and Hatton’s.

“It’s nice that some people appreciated what I did,” she said.
