FOUR teenagers from promising indie band, Stillia, are eagerly looking forward to the two biggest gigs of their young lives.
After hearing the group’s music online, London-based promotional company ‘Symptomatic’ booked the lads to headline a show at London’s ‘Nambucca’ venue later in year.
They have also secured a gig at Liverpool’s Cavern Club on Friday, October 12, a venue where the band's heroes, The Beatles, famously played It will mark the next step on the musical ladder for the Sutton teenagers, who have already had encouraging feedback from the industry.
Jack Bennett, the band’s 16-year-old frontman, told the Star: “It’s been a crazy year. We’ve already started to receive offers from labels, but we are holding out for now and waiting for the right thing to come our way.
“The new EP has just been released and people seem to really like it which is great.”
As well as a host of original songs, the group have also made a number of music videos which can be found on YouTube The youngest member is Matty Bennett, Jack’s 14 year-old brother, who attends Sutton Academy secondary school.
Stillia’s lead guitarist, Connor Moran, 16, is studying at St Helens College while Jack and bassist, Dave Sarbutts, also 16 are students at Sutton Academy Sixth Form.
Despite their tender years, the band’s maturity evident in live performances and studio recordings, displays a spark which has been likened to bands such as the Arctic Monkeys.
Last week they were invited for an interview and acoustic performance, to feature on Salford City Radio, after being spotted playing a gig in Manchester.
While Stillia continue to play in venues across the region the big date for them is in north London on Saturday, November 24.
More than 250 tickets have been sold so far.
Jack added: “We’re taking about 50 friends and family down with us, but the rest of the tickets have been sold to others through the venue and over the phone which is great.”
