THREE doormen accused of attacking two St Helens rugby league players outside a nightclub made their first appearances before Liverpool Crown Court today.

Christopher Rose, Lee Simpson, and Keiran Waters are charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on Saints’ Kiwi international forward Sia Soliola.

Soliola, 26, suffered facial injuries when he was allegedly beaten near to the entrance of the Imperial Bar on Ormskirk Street, St Helens in the early hours of March 12.

The bouncers are also accused of assaulting Soliola’s teammate Carl Forster.

The defendants, who stood side by side in the dock, had been due to enter their pleas today.

However, Judge Mark Brown told them he was adjourning the plea and case management hearing until November 19.

He also set a provisional trial date for the week beginning March 18, 2013.

Rose, 33, of Hansby Drive, Speke, Simpson, 24, of Newarth Drive, Lymm and Waters, 25, of St Chads Road, Chester, were granted conditional bail.
