A THIEF smashed the window of a car and snatched £12,500 worth of power tools from inside.
Detectives are investigating after a white van pulled up next to the victim's Nissan Nivarra in the B&Q car park on Ravenhead Retail Park.
A crook got out of the van and shattered the passenger side rear window before stealing the Dewalt branded tools and equipment.
The haul included saws, torches, sanders, drills, grinders, an inspection camera, heat gun, power tool accessories and laser levels.
PC Andy Passey said: "We are keen to trace a white van that is believed to be either a Fiat Scudo or Peugeot Expert 96-06 model that was seen in the area around the time of the offence.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to ask anyone who has been offered these items to contact us in case they can help the investigation."
The theft happened at about 2.50pm on Wednesday, September 12. Contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6843 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
